Herters is Russian made. Should work great in Russian guns. I wouldn't shoot it through any precision made weapons as it is steel cased. It's basically comparable to Wolf. Bx3

Got a case of .380 a couple weeks back. Haven't gotten to shoot it yet. Will likely do so on or about the 20th of February. Will try to remember to report when I do. I landed those rounds at .34/round which is a steal for .380 these days.

Is anyone else old enough to remember the Herter's catalog back "just a few" years ago? As a kid growing up, I ordered loads of neat fishing stuff from them.
It's a bit surprising to see their logo used now to sell Russian ammo. |

That Herter's? Yeah I remember them. My Dad was in the airline business at the time. George Leonard Herter once wrote the King of Belgium over a lost bag issue with Sabena Airlines.... |

At the time, I was an "innocent yute" only involved in fishing, and hadn't started going down the path of firearms. I don't remember much of their firearm-related stuff (but regularly hear about Herter's rifles on a number of collectors' -Lists), but used Herter's as a Christmas wish-list source for fishing goodies. I think I've still got my Herter's fly rod & reel stashed out in the garage somewhere. |

Thanks for the memories of the Herter's catalogs! My Dad and me used to pour over it, keeping it my room until Dad would roar, "Where's the g-d catalog!". They had everything. When did they go out of business?

Above is a pretty good and unbiased writeup on steel cased ammo. http://www.tucsonshooting.com/Pima_P...ical_Rifle.php And another observation on why I don't shoot steel cased ammo through my precision weapons. In general, it is dirty, less accurate and the looser tolerances of Russian ammo (which work great in AK's) don't lend themselves to the tighter tolerances of match grade barrels/actions. Other than that, it is cheap and may be good for practice (you can even practice your malfunction drills for real with it:biggrin:) but I would not trust my life to it, or shoot it in a precision weapon. BTW, there is a reason that you don't use a steel bore brush to clean chambers/barrels.:thumpdown Bx3 |
